SAMBA, Dec 6: In a heightened effort to combat narcotics trafficking, police have apprehended three notorious drug dealers, including two women, all hailing from Rakh Barotian in Vijaypur. The operation resulted in the recovery of 21 grams of heroin, four mobile phones, a weighing scale, and cash amounting to Rs 38,770 within the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur in Samba district.
According to police, a team from Police Station Vijaypur, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) and supervised by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) under the overall guidance of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, conducted a special vehicle checkpoint near Rakh Barotian. They stopped a motorcycle lacking a registration number traveling from Rakh Barotian towards Vijaypur. During the inspection, they seized 11.43 grams of heroin, four mobile phones, a weighing machine, and Rs 24,630 in cash from the bike’s rider and a female passenger.
The suspects have been identified as Bhag Ali alias Ashiq Ali and his sister Meenu, both residents of Rakh Barotian tehsil, Vijaypur. They have been arrested, and the seized contraband and other items have been taken into custody.
The duo is reportedly involved in the illegal narcotics trade, supplying drugs to addicts in the Vijaypur region.
A case (FIR No. 155/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act) has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur, and investigations are underway.
In a separate operation against drug traffickers, another female dealer, Roshan Bibi alias Lalu alias Alu, wife of Lal Hussain from Rakh Barotian, was apprehended with approximately 8.90 grams of heroin and Rs 14,140 in cash during a police checkpoint in the Vijaypur area.
A case (FIR No. 156/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A NDPS Act) has also been filed at Police Station Vijaypur, and investigations are ongoing.
SSP Samba affirmed that the police are taking firm action against individuals involved in narcotics trade within the district, ensuring strict legal measures are enforced to combat this issue.
