SAMBA, Mar 2: Two young girls from the nomadic Bakerwal community were discovered deceased in a water body in the Lower Birpur region.
Tahira (10), the daughter of Parvez Gujjar, and Asiya Jaan (8), the daughter of Manzoor Gujjar, both from Anantnag, were reported missing around 2 PM on March 1 while tending to their livestock, according to a police spokesperson.
The official stated that after an extensive search, the girls’ parents sought police assistance today when their search efforts proved unsuccessful.

During the search operations, authorities recovered the bodies of the two missing girls from a water body in Balol Khad, located in the Lower Birpur area. Following the necessary legal procedures, the bodies have been released to their families, while inquest proceedings have been initiated to determine the cause of their deaths, the police official added.
