NEW DELHI, Jan 13: The UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) originally set for January 15 has been postponed due to various festivals, including Makar Sankranti and Pongal, as announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday.
The examination, which is for entry into PhD programs, offers Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), and appointments as assistant professors, is being conducted from January 3 to January 16 across 85 subjects in Computer Based Test (CBT) format.
“The NTA has received requests to delay the exam on January 15 due to festivals, including Pongal and Makar Sankranti. To accommodate the candidates’ interests, the exam has been rescheduled, and a new date will be provided later,” said Rajesh Kumar, Director (Exams) at the NTA.
“The January 16 exam will proceed as planned,” he added.
On January 15, exams were to be held for 17 subjects, including mass communication and journalism, Sanskrit, Nepali, law, Japanese, women studies, Malayalam, Urdu, Konkani, criminology, folk literature, electronic science, environmental science, and the Indian knowledge system.
Last year, the UGC-NET was also postponed after the education ministry received information suggesting that the integrity of the exam could be at risk. (Agencies)
