JAMMU, Nov 30: Jammu and Kashmir BJP president, Sat Sharma (CA), addressed a large group of farmers in the border village of Salehar, located in the Bishnah Assembly constituency. He noted that the silence on the borders allows farmers to pursue their agricultural activities without fear.
His remarks were delivered during a BJP Kissan Morcha program organized by Morcha general secretary, Rakesh Pant, upon the suggestion of Morcha president, Sarabjit Singh Johal.
Sat Sharma recalled a time when residents, especially in border villages, lived with insecurity due to frequent cross-border firing. Such violence caused destruction to homes, injury, and loss of life, and even endangered livestock. The fear of firing disrupted timely crop sowing, leading to severe financial setbacks for farmers.
“Since 2014, when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, we have witnessed significant changes. He empowered security forces to respond decisively, ultimately putting an end to the border firings,” Sat stated, adding that farmers and residents in border areas now feel secure, content, and can engage in their farms in a peaceful environment.
Sat Sharma also took the time to listen to the farmers’ concerns and pledged to address their request for ownership rights regarding custodian land to the appropriate authorities.
Sarabjit Singh Johal highlighted the annual financial support of Rs 6000 extended to farmers under the Kissan Samman Nidhi scheme implemented by the Narendra Modi Government.
Rajinder Singh Chib, Border district Prabhari, emphasized the importance of maintaining regular communication with those living in remote areas away from major cities.
Border district president, Sunil Dutt, discussed the various schemes introduced by the Modi Government that benefit local farmers.
MLA Bishnah, Dr. Rajeev Bhagat, assured the audience that he is always available to provide assistance in any form.
The program was conducted by Kissan Morcha general secretary, Rakesh Pant.
Kissan Morcha vice president Satish Shastri, DDC Dharminder Kumar, Narayan Sharma, Bishan Choudhary, Inderjeet Sharma, and others also contributed to the discussion.
