Jammu, Dec 12: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated on Thursday that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Jammu and Kashmir is progressing towards equality, opportunity, and social justice.
“Recent transformations under PM Modi’s leadership have epitomized inclusive development, removing prejudices, and instilling hope and stability within the community. The evident reduction of disparities between basic amenities and the aspirations of citizens is clear in both rural and urban areas. Over the years, there has been a notable deepening of grassroots democracy, with democratic ideals and constitutional values now guiding our shared vision,” the L-G remarked at a commemorative event honoring Dogra General Zorawar Singh.
He emphasized the visible improvements in bridging the gaps between fundamental needs and the expectations of citizens, both in villages and cities.
He also highlighted efforts aimed at supporting marginalized communities, including those displaced from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Western Pakistan.
“The sacrifices made by remarkable figures like General Zorawar Singh were based on their commitment to fostering harmony, peace, and societal prosperity. Their vision aligns with ongoing initiatives to end persistent discriminatory practices and integrate these marginalized groups into the broader community,” he said.
He described General Zorawar Singh’s life as a “beacon of inspiration” for future generations, noting that his legacy teaches us how to confront challenges in national service with bravery and determination, thereby preserving the core of our civilization.
“The velocity of project completions in Jammu and Kashmir has surged tenfold, demonstrating our commitment to public welfare as a fundamental duty,” he added.
Sinha expressed deep appreciation to the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust for their role in preserving the legacy of this great warrior.
“I am profoundly thankful to the officials of the Trust for their dedicated efforts in promoting the memory and contributions of General Zorawar Singh across various sectors of society, embodying India’s confidence and pride.
“I believe that the lives and actions of great individuals serve as a source of inspiration for others. A society that fails to remember its remarkable figures and ancestors risks losing its historical identity.
“Remembering them inspires countless individuals to unite in the pursuit of equitable development and commit themselves to the advancement of underprivileged sections of society,” he stated.
Sinha referred to General Zorawar Singh as a “symbol of national unity” and an exemplar of “courage” and “resolve.”
“General Zorawar Singh’s life represents the dream of a robust India. During Maharaja Gulab Singh’s reign, he significantly contributed to the expansion of the Dogra empire and the realization of the vision for a unified India. His expeditions in Ladakh and Baltistan demonstrated exceptional strategic planning and unwavering determination,” he remarked.
He further emphasized the comprehensive actions taken under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance to honor and revitalize the legacy of eminent personalities like General Zorawar Singh.
“The initiatives over the last decade have been focused on making the values championed by great individuals like General Zorawar Singh a source of strength for the nation. Their legacy is being rejuvenated to invigorate New India. PM Modi has achieved significant advancements in positioning India as a global power while fostering an environment where every citizen can contribute creatively without facing discrimination,” he added.
