JAMMU, Dec 23: Union Minister of State BL Verma expressed concerns regarding the current situation in Bangladesh during a recent event. He mentioned that the government is keeping a close watch on the developments.
While speaking at a Rozgar Mela held in Jammu, the minister praised the efforts of the Border Security Force (BSF) for their critical role in protecting India’s borders, particularly with Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Pakistan.
“I extend my congratulations to the BSF, which is instrumental in ensuring our national security. Having been involved in the development of the northeast, I am well aware of the challenges and achievements in these border regions,” Verma stated to the media.
“The circumstances in Bangladesh are concerning, but our Government and the Ministry of External Affairs are actively monitoring the situation and will maintain their vigilance,” he added.
He assured that all necessary and appropriate measures would be adopted to manage the issues at hand.
Verma faced numerous inquiries regarding the situation in Bangladesh, allegations of election and EVM fraud by the Congress party, and the ongoing discourse on caste census, among various topics.
In response to a query regarding Samajwadi Party MLA Suresh Yadav’s controversial characterization of the BJP government as a “Hindu terrorist organization,” Verma remarked, “Such statements are regrettable and are unacceptable in a democratic nation like ours. The public will respond fittingly to such inflammatory and derogatory remarks. The government will also take necessary actions.”
“Whether pertaining to the Samajwadi Party, Congress, or their INDIA alliance affiliates, their focus appears to be on appeasing the Muslim community. In contrast, Prime Minister Modi’s administration adheres to the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.’ The BJP does not engage in appeasement,” the minister asserted.
Verma deemed divisive comments, such as labeling “Hindus as ‘malaria and mosquitoes’ or disrespecting Sanatan Dharma, to be intolerable,” emphasizing that both the government and citizens would be aware of such statements.
Regarding allegations of electoral fraud levied by the Congress party, Verma criticized the opposition for its contradictions. “The Congress party governed for nearly 55 years but has yet to provide the development that we have achieved in the last decade under Prime Minister Modi. Elections are now carried out with utmost integrity and fairness,” he stated.
“The Congress only acknowledges elections as fair when they emerge victorious. In defeat, they quickly blame EVMs and allege fraudulent activities,” he continued.
On Rahul Gandhi’s demand for a caste census, Verma questioned why the Congress party, which had decades of governance, did not undertake such an initiative during its time in power.
“The Gandhi family ruled the country for almost 55 years, often through indirect control, yet never considered a caste census necessary. It is Prime Minister Modi who has ensured dignity and respect for OBCs, SCs, and STs. The Congress derailed the first report in 1955 and the Mandal Commission, denying rightful reservations to OBCs. Today, OBCs possess a constitutional board, and I serve as a Minister as an OBC; this is the transformation brought about by the BJP,” he asserted.
Verma participated in the Rozgar Mela organized by the BSF in Jammu, where 636 appointment letters were presented to newly selected recruits, with Verma personally handing out 26 letters.
“Today, appointment letters are being distributed to as many as 71,000 candidates across 45 locations nationwide, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he mentioned.
“Since 2014, India has seen substantial progress in development and an evident rise in job opportunities. Over the past nine years, 10 lakh jobs have been created under the Prime Minister’s leadership. I congratulate all the newly appointed individuals,” he concluded. (Agencies)
