Jammu, Dec 12: The Uttar Pradesh government has extended an invitation to Jammu and Kashmir’s Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela.
Scheduled every 12 years, this grand event will take place from January 13 to February 26 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. It is expected to attract over 400 million attendees, making it an unprecedented gathering.
Representing UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Science and Technology Minister Anil Kumar and Minister of State for Minority Welfare Danish Azad Ansari visited Jammu to deliver the invitation to the Lt Governor and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
“We are here following CM Adityanath’s directive to extend an invitation to LG Sinha, CM Abdullah, and all citizens to join the Maha Kumbh, a celebration of India’s rich culture and diversity, as well as a chance to honor our heritage,” Ansari stated to the press.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Prayagraj tomorrow to oversee the preparations made by the UP government for the Maha Kumbh, the minister added.
Additionally, Minister Kumar expressed their aim to encourage the residents of Jammu and Kashmir to “immerse themselves in this confluence of faith.”
“We will meet with the LG soon and will also connect with the chief minister later today to present the invitation,” he stated.
When asked about security for the massive event, Kumar assured that a comprehensive seven-layer security protocol would be implemented to ensure the safety of all attendees.
Regarding the invitation to Congress leaders, who previously did not attend the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya, he noted that the event is of a religious nature. He explained that the UP CM has formed several two-member teams to travel across the country to invite chief ministers and other notable figures.
Additionally, special trains will be operated by the railways to assist devotees in reaching the venue.
They also encouraged cultural organizations and citizens from across Jammu and Kashmir to participate in this sacred festival.
