PRAYAGRAJ (UP), Dec 30: Preparations for the forthcoming Maha Kumbh are reaching their culmination, with 400 million devotees anticipated to gather from across the globe for this grand event, scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 26.
In response to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives to ensure a ‘digital’ and ‘cybersecure’ Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh Police has crafted a plan to shield attendees from cyber fraud.
“We have devised a comprehensive strategy to combat cybercrime during the Maha Kumbh. In addition to police personnel, we have recruited cyber experts from specialized institutions such as IIT-Kanpur. Acting on the complaints received, police have already apprehended some cyber criminals,” stated Director General of Police (DGP), Prashant Kumar.
“We will also initiate a wide-ranging awareness campaign aimed at safeguarding the devotees against cybercrime during the event,” he further noted.
A recent meeting involving cyber experts and senior police officials took place at the Integrated Command and Control Centre, focusing on various aspects of cybercrime, as mentioned by the DGP.
Held in a hybrid format under the chairmanship of Additional Director General of Police (Prayagraj Zone), Bhanu Bhaskar, the assembly included professors from IIT-Kanpur, ADGP (cyber crime), Prayagraj police commissioner, IG (Prayagraj range), along with other cyber specialists.
The magnificent event will unfold over 45 days, commencing with ‘Paush Poornima’ on January 13 and concluding on ‘Mahashivratri’ on February 26. (PTI)
