NEW DELHI, Feb 18: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the deadline for applications for this year’s civil services preliminary examination to February 21.
This marks the second extension to the application deadline for the examination, which is held annually by the UPSC in three phases: preliminary, mains, and interview. This process selects officers for roles in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
According to a notice released on the Commission’s website, “the last date for submission for Civil Services (Preliminary)-2025 and Indian Forest Service (Preliminary)-2025 has been further extended till 21.02.2025 (6 pm).”
Additionally, a correction window for applicants will be available “from 22.02.2025 to 28.02.2025,” the notice stated, though it did not provide reasons for the second extension.
Recently, the Commission also implemented changes to its online application system after candidates reported various technical issues experienced during the application process.
To apply, candidates must visit the website http://upsconline.gov.in.
The notification for the civil services examination was issued in January, with the initial application deadline set for February 11, which was subsequently extended to February 18.
The civil services preliminary examination is scheduled to take place on May 25.
It is anticipated that around 979 vacancies will be available through the examination, including 38 positions reserved for individuals belonging to the benchmark disability category. (Agencies)
