JAMMU, Dec 13: A total of 30 talented students and artists from Jammu and Kashmir have been chosen to represent the Union Territory at the upcoming 28th National Youth Festival, set to take place in New Delhi on January 11 & 12, 2025. These individuals were selected based on their outstanding performances at the UT-level Inter-Division 28th National Youth Festival held in Jammu. The participants comprise 10 performers in Folk Song, 10 in Folk Dance, and 2 each in Painting, Poetry, Thematic Presentation, Story Writing, and Declamation.
During the closing ceremony, Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary of the Youth Services and Sports Department in Jammu and Kashmir, praised the youth for their remarkable talent and underscored the necessity of nurturing skills from a foundational level. He stressed the importance of providing value-based education to instill moral values and ethical principles, empowering youth to achieve their full potential.
Hafeez congratulated the selected artists, describing their participation in the forthcoming National Youth Festival as a “dream come true,” particularly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to be in attendance. He further emphasized that such events serve to empower youth, encouraging them to become leaders and fostering national cohesion.
The event was also attended by Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General of Youth Services and Sports; Jitendra Mishra, Deputy Director of Youth Services and Sports Central; Ved Prakash, Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports Jammu; Sunil Kumar Sharma, Accounts Officer at the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K; and Mohd Yousuf Dar.
