JAMMU, Dec 26: Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu, recently met with Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. During their meeting, Prof. Rai expressed his appreciation for the Lieutenant Governor’s ongoing support and guidance, which have been crucial in the University achieving a notable A++ Grade in the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation, along with an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.72.

The Lieutenant Governor, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University of Jammu, acknowledged the institution’s unwavering commitment to excellence in both academics and research, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the administration, faculty, staff, and students. He remarked that the A++ Grade is a testament to the dedication of all stakeholders in realizing the University’s objective of providing high-quality education.

Prof. Rai noted that the University improved significantly from its previous A+ Grade, which had a CGPA of 3.51 during Cycle III. With this latest accreditation, the University joins an elite group of institutions in the country recognized with A++ status (in Cycle IV), and this accolade will remain valid for seven years.

A seven-member NAAC Peer Team, led by Prof. Anant Kumar Tyagi, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth in Varanasi, visited the University of Jammu from December 11-13, 2024, to assess various Key Performance Areas, including Curricular Aspects, Teaching-Learning & Evaluation, Research, Innovations & Extension, Infrastructure & Learning Resources, Student Support & Progression, Governance, Leadership & Management, and Institutional Values & Best Practices.

The Vice Chancellor was joined by Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean of Academic Affairs; Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean of Planning and Development; Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean of Research Studies; Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar and Special Secretary to the Vice Chancellor; and Dr. Ginny Dogra, Director of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance.
