Dear Sir,
The recent measures taken by the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee to tackle water pollution in Bhaderwah represent a positive initiative. The enforcement of fines and issuance of warnings to those responsible for improper waste disposal underscore the seriousness of the situation.
Water bodies in Bhaderwah, including Puneja Nullah, Neeru Nullah, and Halyan Nullah, are under significant threat from the dumping of unsegregated waste, untreated sewage, and inadequate waste management practices.
In response, the establishment of a three-member committee and the implementation of CCTV monitoring are commendable steps. Furthermore, the allocation of land for a Sewage Treatment Plant at Gatha signifies an advancement toward effective waste management.
Nevertheless, it is imperative to address delays in funding approvals for vital projects to prevent further harm to the environment.
A collective effort between government agencies, local authorities, and citizens is essential for shaping the environmental future of Bhaderwah. Ongoing vigilance and public cooperation will be critical for the success of these initiatives.
Sincerely,
Varinder Katoch
Bhaderwah
