New Delhi, February 28: Users around the globe are experiencing significant disruptions with WhatsApp, affecting both the mobile app and the web platform. Many have reported being unable to send messages or make calls through WhatsApp and WhatsApp Web. A spike in complaints was noted by Downdetector, an online service that monitors website issues, with over 9,000 users in India alone reporting messaging difficulties—this accounts for roughly 80% of all complaints. Other reported problems include server connectivity issues and app malfunctions. The outage started at approximately 8:56 PM IST, reaching its peak around 9:15 PM. During this time, members of the tech team at The Times of India also faced issues sending messages and making calls. On a global scale, around 7,000 users reported message-sending problems (53%), server connection issues (36%), and app difficulties (10%). As of now, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has not released any official comments regarding the outage.
