SRINAGAR, Dec 29: The eagerly awaited winter sports season has officially commenced at the iconic ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir. The ceremony was officiated by Tariq Hussain, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), as he ushered in an exciting period for winter sports fans and tourists alike. This annual event is highly anticipated, coinciding perfectly with the New Year festivities.
Recently, Gulmarg and surrounding areas in Kashmir received significant snowfall, creating ideal conditions for skiing and other winter sports. The abundant snow has thrilled both tourists and sports enthusiasts, establishing Gulmarg as a favored destination for those seeking adventure and stunning landscapes during the holiday season. The resort has begun to draw a considerable influx of visitors from all over India, as well as international tourists eager to explore the exhilarating skiing opportunities on Gulmarg’s untouched slopes.
At the inaugural event, CEO Tariq Hussain was accompanied by officials from various departments, including the JK Cable Car Corporation, the Tourism Department, and the Municipal Committee. They undertook a thorough inspection of Gulmarg, Gondola, and Kongdoori to ensure all arrangements were set for the upcoming winter sports festivities. A standout moment of the day was the opening of the “Baby Skiing Slope,” which brought joy to tourists and children eager to experience skiing for the first time. With the season underway, Gulmarg is buzzing with visitors, promising an exciting and memorable winter holiday experience.
