Gukesh and reigning champion Ding Liren from China played to yet another draw in the eighth game of the World Chess Championship, resulting in their fifth consecutive stalemate. The match left both players tied with 4 points each, needing an additional 3.5 points to secure victory in the championship.
The peace was agreed upon after 51 moves, making it the sixth draw in the 14-round competition.
The 32-year-old Liren had initially triumphed in the first game, while the 18-year-old Gukesh won the third game. The second, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh games all ended in draws. (Agencies)
